American Women Series Quarters

The American Women Quarters Program is a landmark U.S. Mint series issued from 2022 through 2025, honoring the achievements and contributions of influential women throughout American history. Authorized by Congress, this four-year program featured five new quarter designs each year, resulting in a total of 20 unique coins that celebrate leaders across fields such as civil rights, science, education, government, and the arts.

Each coin in the series showcases a different woman on the reverse, while the obverse features a refreshed portrait of George Washington, creating a modern yet historically grounded design. Developed in collaboration with organizations like the Smithsonian American Women’s History Initiative, the program brings broader representation and storytelling to everyday U.S. coinage.

As the successor to the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, this series continues the tradition of rotating quarter designs while introducing a more contemporary theme focused on people rather than places. The program was established under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020, which authorized new designs across multiple denominations leading up to America’s 250th anniversary.

In addition to standard circulating coins, the American Women Quarters are also produced in collector formats such as proof and silver proof coins, making them accessible to both casual collectors and serious numismatists.
